SUMMARY:Women In Business Luncheon with Megan O'Callaghan - Choosing Public Service
DESCRIPTION:Join the Dublin Chamber for lunch on Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m. at The Country Club at Muirfield Village\, as we welcome guest speaker and Dublin City Manager Megan O'Callaghan. This event is sponsored by the Women of Cenovus Energy!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChoosing Public Service\n\nDublin City Manager Megan O'Callaghan is a registered professional engineer and an attorney in the State of Ohio. She could have taken many different career paths\, but she chose public service. From the City of Columbus to the State of Ohio and the City of Dublin\, O'Callaghan has found her sweet spot in the public sector. Public service means many things to its various constituencies. One day you're building a first-of-its-kind-in-the-world pedestrian suspension bridge\, and on another you're negotiating land deals\, partnering with surrounding jurisdictions on a connected vehicle corridor or serving as a goodwill ambassador on an international stage. Hear Megan discuss her passion for the Dublin community and the importance of building literal\, figurative and cultural bridges on the job\, all while growing a career that has enriched her life in a way no other profession could have and giving her the opportunity to help improve the city she loves to call home.\nIn the "Comments" section\, please include dietary restrictions while completing your reservation.\n\nABOUT OUR SPEAKER\n\nPrior to her appointment to Dublin City Manager\, Megan served as the City's deputy city manager/chief finance and development officer\, deputy city manager/chief operating officer and director of public works. She has successfully formulated and executed strategic plans in areas including Finance\, Development\, Economic Development\, Building Standards and Transportation & Mobility\, a division she created in 2020 to advance the City's Connected Dublin initiatives and align them with comprehensive transportation and mobility management strategies. \n\n\n\nO'Callaghan has overseen nearly all of the City's departments and divisions including Engineering\, Street & Utilities Operations\, Fleet & Facilities Management\, Park Operations\, Parks and Recreation\, and Asset Management. During her tenure\, she has planned and executed the City's Capital Improvements Program\, including many highlights such as her passionate involvement\, oversight and project management of the Dublin Link pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Scioto River. The unique and sophisticated bridge is a remarkable engineering achievement that has earned national and international accolades.\n\n\n\nThroughout her career\, O'Callaghan has demonstrated a commitment to innovation and technology\, including the successful launch of the popular GoDublin customer service application and request system and the SnowGo system that provides residents with real-time snow removal information. She also oversaw the development of a mobile asset management program\, which utilizes the City's data platforms and maintenance management software.\n\n\n\nBefore joining the Dublin team\, O'Callaghan worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) as a Deputy Director responsible for delivering the Department's nearly $2 billion annual construction program. She also previously served as Deputy Director for the City of Columbus Department of Public Service\, where she managed 700 employees and oversaw the five-year Capital Improvements Plan.\n\n\n\nIn the community\, O'Callaghan fosters rich professional relationships with many City of Dublin partners including Franklin\, Union and Delaware Counties\, ODOT and the City of Columbus. She is Vice President of the Northwest 33 Council of Governments\, which founded and leads The Beta District innovation region. O'Callaghan also serves on the Dublin Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees and the Dublin City Schools Business Advisory Council.\n\n\n\nYou won't want to miss an inside look at Megan's outlook on the city of Dublin and its future.
